However, we can confidently say that these claims are false and misleading. It is disheartening and distressing to find oneself at the center of such misinformation.Yesterday, during the ‘Oro Tonlo’ radio program held on Albarka 89.9FM, the former Commissioner for Works, Engr Rotimi Iliasu joined the program virtually to speak on issues bothering on Kwara Politics, infrastructure development and youths engagement. During the program, Engr Rotimi debunked the purported and fabricated news about his arrest by unscrupulous elements who finds their daily bread from defaming and witch hunting people.In the former Commissioner’s words on the radio program, he said “I am not in the EFCC net, today being Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 and the time is 5:26pm. I’ve never been to EFCC Office before, I’ve never been called upon to give account of anything whatsoever. It is those unscrupulous elements that are going around peddling fake news about my arrest or being detained by the EFCC. I will never ruin my family name, neither will I tarnish the reputation of my hometown nor will I tarnish the image of Kwara State at large.”In conclusion, we implore the fake news peddlers to desist from such act, false claims can cause immense harm, not only to the individuals directly affected but also to society at large.
