It has become necessary for Nigeria Diaspora for Asiwaju NDA to clear and unequivocally and openly declare that it stands in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the good people of Nigeria in view of the recent protests in some part of Nigeria.
It is not surprising to note that Shara Reporters, Premium Times, and other fellow janitorial media houses received donations from foreign agencies to promote and instigate Nigerians to protest. These unpatriotic fellows masqurading as journalists are directly responsible for the death of 17 persons who died on the first day of this protest.
We noted with dismay the embarrassing situation in Kano as some miscreants used the protest as pretence to vandalise and loot public properties. We condemned these acts in its entirety. We equally commend the Nigeria Police for rising to the occasion as some of these thieves were arrested.
The efforts of security agencies have Bern commendable so far. They act professionally by ensuring that there was no total breakdown of laws and orders. This is commendable.
This is not the time for emotions neither it is time for blackmail. President Tinubu has performed excellently well while we note that more has to be done to make food prices cheaper and available it is fastidious and unhelpful to turn blind eyes on commendable efforts the PBAT administration has made so far.
On this note, we call on the state governors to rise to the occasion and become viable partners to President Tinubu in his efforts to banish hunger. State Governors must be aware that the citizens are aware of the increase in monthly inflow in their state accounts. Residents in their states must be positively impacted.
Henceforth, NDA will be calling out state governors who are sleeping on duty. Maybe this will help to get these state to stay alive to their responsibilities.
The unfortunate incidents of fatalities confirmed the fear expressed by the federal government. It is near the impossibility of having peaceful protests in Nigeria. Nigeria political climate is very toxic and subjective, thereby making objectivity impossible.
To the protestors, it is time to sheath the swords and stop the protest. Your grievances have been heard and are duly noted. President Tinubu is humane, understanding, and a very compassionate leader. In a very short while, the situation in the country will ease. And we shall all smile.
We hereby commend the positive roles played by NSCIA, CAN, Labour Unions, Student Unions, and religious clerics who individually voice their oppositions to this protest.
Our interaction with protesters revealed the following
- many are not aware of the steps the federal government has taken to reduce food prices, cost of transportation, and curb insecurity
- Some that are aware do not trust that those measures will yield positive results.
- Some are aware, but they pretend not to know or simply do not care. These are the worst of them. They are politically or ethnically motivated.
We all need to trust the process and convinced that President Tinubu will positively turn the fortune of this country around for the good.
Let uphold the peace. Let uphold our unity and love.
